Implemented and managed a self hosted CapRover instance hosting multiple applications, including web frontends, backend APIs, databases, and admin tools. Configured domain mapping, SSL certificates, reverse proxy rules, and environment variables. Designed a deployment workflow enabling one click app setups and scalable microservices. This environment streamlined our development and reduced operational overhead, allowing fast iterations and reliable uptime.
Challenges
Managing multiple apps and services on a single VPS required careful orchestration of resources, domains, and security.
Multi App Hosting
- Challenge: Running frontend, backend, and databases in isolated environments without resource conflicts.
- Solution: Configured CapRover one click apps with Docker Compose templates, applying CPU and memory constraints per service.
SSL & Reverse Proxy
- Challenge: Securing multiple apps and mapping clean domains/subdomains automatically.
- Solution: Leveraged CapRover’s built in Nginx reverse proxy with Let’s Encrypt SSL certificates for automated secure routing.
Deployment Workflow
- Challenge: Enabling frequent, safe deployments without manual server intervention.
- Solution: Implemented a CLI driven deployment pipeline with CapRover deploy, environment variables, and container health checks.
Results/Conclusion:
This orchestration became the backbone of our self hosted environment. It improved uptime, simplified deployments, and showcased expertise in Dockerized infrastructure and DevOps automation.
